the home depot downtown!
At this location, one of maybe 15 in the LA area, it is about 5 blocks to downtown. I had not been to this one before and it certainly is very different than the others. It is not easy to get to and that is usually one of my big considerations. My navigator would not give me the directions to the one north of downtown - like it disappeared all of a sudden (stupid navigator). The areas around the west and north of downtown can be very complicated because of several freeways, the l.a. river, dodger stadium and several neighborhoods that are atop hills, around which you have to drive.

Winter
It was so incredibly beautiful out today! The sky was a perfect clear and clean blue: no smog, no clouds, no haze. I was working in Korea town (which is just south of Silver Lake) and I could look up and see the Hollywood sign perfectly! And the Observatory and Griffith park - all along the Hollywood hills ridge. And further back from that was the snow capped mountains north of Glendale. There I was pruning fruit trees, listening to the birds, smelling the fresh rich soil and then I would look up to see LA's amazing mountains. With snow too! I love winter here. Love it
beautiful dirt!
The photo does not do this justice but the dirt at this new house in Korea town is dark and rich and crumbly. Perfect. I cant wait to plant!

on the roof pruning the nectarine
I talked to the homeowner later and she said that she sat on the roof to pick the nectarines when they were ripe. It really is a useful spot. I did however manage to drag my saw across my forearm and now I have stripes like I got swatted by a cat. I bet that doesn't happen when you pick the fruit. (And I have my canning jars ready for the summer harvest!)
